It’s raining, it’s pouring, it needn’t be boring

Treglisson is a small secluded site just South of Hayle on the North Cornish coast and a short distance from the town of St Ives. Our self-catering cabins are perfect for visitors looking for a secluded spot to unwind and rest after an active day in the sea air.

All day it has rained, and we on the edge of the moors
Have sprawled in our bell-tents, moody and dull as boors,
Groundsheets and blankets spread on the muddy ground
And from the first grey wakening we have found

No refuge from the skirmishing fine rain
And the wind that made the canvas heave and flap
And the taut wet guy-ropes ravel out and snap,
All day the rain has glided, wave and mist and dream……..

Alun Lewis wasn’t thinking about a camping holiday when he wrote All Day It Has Rained, but we don’t want these lines to ever feel appropriate for your stay at Treglisson.

We feel guilty AND responsible when our guests don’t get the best weather. Our first plan was a retractable Truman Show style sunshine-on-demand megadome, but we haven’t been able to scrape together the £30 billion yet, so until that day the least we can do is put some thought into rainy day activities that will ensure your holiday is memorable for the right reasons.

Some detail follows, but…

If you’re just looking for a list of suggestions, take a look at our Nearby page. It’s got suggestions for rainy days, but also ideas for days out, places to eat, stuff to do with the kids etc.

And please, tell us if you find somewhere that you think is worthy of inclusion in our pages. Thank you.

Here, then, are a few suggestions.
